Spring Cleaning part 1
« on: September 17, 2015, 05:28:22 PM »
Hi,

A collection of small changes to the main site:

A note on the front page confirming that WMA links have been replaced with direct iPlayer links
The references to WMA have been replaced with iPlayer references
The donations buttons on various pages have been reinstated. Mainly the \'Lite\' pages.

...and the forum:

The \'breadcrumbs\' which sit below the green banner and look like this -
Code: [Select]

Home > Announcements > Topic

....have been changed, they now look like this -

Code: [Select]

Home > Forum > Announcements > Topic

... Previously \'Home\' would take you to the main page of the forum, and you couldn\'t get back to the main site easily. Now, \'Home\' takes you to the main site (beebotron.org) and \'Forums\' takes you to the main page of the forum.

The last one really threw me. I kept thinking I was hitting the wrong thing! But it does make more sense. Thanks, Rick. :)

Yup Rick, the old throw back used to throw me too. Thanks for making things clearer.

A slight glitch I encountered : at Forum home menu page, the announcements section seems not to show up this thread, or any messages. Yet this message is under a thread titled announcements. Possibly it\'s my bad and I\'ve lost my way on the thread. Anyway I just thought I\'d mention it.

Having a couple of links to The Radio Times would be very nifty.

Till reading yours, I didn\'t even know there\'d been such a thing on the Beebotron!!! Ooops, she cries running to the corner to put on the Dunce\'s cap!

I\'m not sure I follow you, do you mean you look at the main page and see a green bar with \'Anouncements\' and a yellow folder icon but with nothing under it before the other forum sections?

How about if I put them in the drop-down, which is on the right-hand side under the green banner at the top? It says \'Jump to forum\' but can contain links to external sites too.

Which Radio Times links would be useful?

I must have misunderstood Rick I thought from some remarks made up thread that there may already have been a link to R.T. apparently not, so sorry if my comments caused confusion.

Ivor uses the R.T. lots I believe and Jan may refer to it too, they are likely better placed to designate the useful pages to link from the Beebotron. I\'ll take a closer look at the publication too and see what occurs to me. Till now I\'ve not used the resource.

Will respond to the two other queries above shortly.

Done.
Removed some old links at the same time.

I was referring to your above modification and following on from Jan\'s comment.

To clarify my comment  \"A slight glitch I encountered : at Forum home menu page, the announcements section seems not to show up this thread, or any messages. Yet this message is under a thread titled announcements. Possibly it\'s my bad and I\'ve lost my way on the thread. Anyway I just thought I\'d mention it.\"

I had clicked on the announcements thread and failed to find messages displayed there. Perhaps it was a temporary glitch, or perhaps my bad. In any event the problem seems to be sorted now. So thanks again.  As to your latest \"thoughts\" I\'m mulling them over and will comment shortly.
