Goodnight Poppa
« on: February 15, 2014, 02:01:20 PM »
Ralph Waites (Daddy John Walton) had died at the age of 85, in Palm Springs. One of the Digital networks - True Entertainment - is currently running the series. It\'s still as emotive as ever.

On the same tack, Ken Jones (\'Orrible Ives) has died at the age of 83 (6 days short of 84). He was famous as the weasel in \'Porridge\'. Fletcher said of him \'Ives is such a loser that, if Elizabeth Taylor had triplets, he\'d have been in the middle, on the bottle\'.

I was so sorry to hear about Ralph Waites (I don\'t know the other man, but I\'m sorry about him as well.).

Richard Bull who played Mr. Oleson on Little House on the Prairie passed away recently too. :(

I included Ken Jones because I felt that you may have seen Porridge. He was the snidey one.

What I meant to say, before, was that they both had a good run for their money.

No. I haven\'t seen that one unfortunately. And yes they did have a good run. Ralph Waite was in recurring roles on both NCIS and Bones. Not  sure how they will handle his passing. He was playing the father of main characters on both programs.

Grandma came back last week after her stroke. Then I find out the Grandpa has died...

... in the story - I know that Will Geer died years ago.

I\'m wondering if NCIS and Bones won\'t wait until next season to do an episode about it as well.

You love Bones? I do too! Fan of David Boreanaz since his work in Buffy and Angel. He Tweets a lot about American Hockey.

OMG, yes!!!  I\'ve been a fan since day one! :)   How did you feel about the Pellant storyline, Superman? I loved it it. It \"had me at hello\" so to speak, but then the ending seemed really anticlimactic.

I only got to know David Boreanaz from Bones, since I never watched Buffy. I know, I know....everyone has told me I need to watch it. They have it on Netflix and it\'s in my queue, so eventually....

Perhaps Google ?

(\"Gateway episode\" is my new buzz phrase, ever since I started watching my ancient VHS tapes again, starting with episode 6 of season 1 of Six Feet Under, \"The Room\", which I then saw was recommended on some website as a GE for that series.)

Okay. I love \"Gateway Episode\". :)   Never heard the phrase before but it is fabulous and should be included as standard terminology in any entertainment conversation. Thank you for that! :)-D

When I do begin my venture into the Buffyverse, I will begin with the episodes suggested on the site I visited. It is so frustrating to hear people excited about a series, only to find yourself bogged down in the first episodes not understanding what all the fuss is about.

I also  absolutely understand the other side of that. Many times I\'ve been at a loss, having watched a series from the beginning and knowing all the backstory, as to how to convince someone to hang in through the growing pains of the beginning to reach all the gold that lies ahead.

Now, there is an answer! Gateway Episodes!

Brilliant! ;)

Pellant\'s death a couple of weeks ago was anticlimactic, as you say. Perhaps they really didn\'t have anything more to do with him. I\'m expecting the long awaited B + B wedding any episode now since P can\'t interfere anymore.

At least David Boreanaz gets to film in daylight for most of the time in Bones, as opposed to the night shoots in Buffy and in Angel.  Not to mention not getting turned into a Muppet by black magic as he was in a Series 5 episode of Angel (\'Smile Time\')...
