BBC1 Sport Background Music
« on: July 08, 2013, 03:56:14 PM »
Hi,

I\'m trying to find out what the name is of the background music played recently (yesterday actually) 7/72013 in Wimbledon 2013. Its a very stirring classical, slow string piece - orchestral in nature. It was played everytime they showed a montage of slow motion historic or slow motion Andy Murray action pieces. Its played during BBC Sports programmes, usually big occassions where they show slow-motion, histoircal/factual footage and ive heard it many times over the last 3 years.

It was also played during last years Grand National - again as the backing for very stirring, immotive footage where past Champions were shown (mainly B/W footage). The BBC used to have a service for identifying music such as this and it now seems defunct which is a shame since this type of \'incidental\' music can introduce a viewer (like me) to a musical genre that they have never listened to before. This piece of music is both haunting and ultra melodramatic and always conjures up images of something great and victorious. Listening to it during slo-mo summary footage of Andy Murrays win yesterday actually brought a lump to my throat. (now i feel stupid) .....

any help please????

hi,

thanks, tepeethetroll & IvorThirst  for the info - however took a look at this soundtrack on Amazon and Daas Boot is NOT it.

Ive found the original footage on BBC iPlayer Wimbledon footage and marked the point that it plays in the background heres the link:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b037c87m/Wimbledon_2013_BBC_One_Mens_Final_Build_Up/

jump directly to this time:
1:01:39  ( h:mm:ss )

It may be some of the incidental music in Daas Boot but i listened to 30 snippets from the film on Amazon and non sounded like this one - though im not discounting your theory.

Thanks

Sorry about being no help.

I had a listen to the portion you gave a link to, and at first I thought it could be a snippet from the \"Hebrides Overture\" (Fingals Cave) by Felix Mendelssohn, but when I gave that a good listen on my MP3 player I decided that wasn\'t it.

Once again, sorry @\'.2\'@

hey - not a problem tepeethetroll - thanks for your input - i didnt think it was going to be easy since it seems like some quite obscrure piece from the Beebs archive library. I quite looking forward to donning my sleuthing cap and tracking it down. i\'m enjoying the challenge. I may try contacting the Beeb direct or even BBC Morning news crew - they seem a friendly lot.

thanks again - my search contiunues and ill update this thread if found for any other interested partys.

Unfortunately, I happened to mention Wimbledon in another thread, during whose long and rambling course the unsleeping Ironeyes eventually managed to track down what you were looking for:

I came across this on Facebook.

Couldn\'t sleep with this on my mind.

I now believe the music used in the final is called \"Time\" from the film Inception, composed by Hans Zimmer.

You can check this out either at Amazon or on YouTube.

All we need now is the music. So, for those who can access YouTube, (sorry Jan) here is the piece. I have selected a clip without adverts, but there are some spectacular clips.

Aw, what the heck! Ignore the advert and watch this.

So the advert may not show this time.
