A nice catch
« on: July 07, 2013, 05:26:09 PM »
Instructions on how to connect the Sony ICD-PX312 digital voice recorder to a computer (and just as importantly, how to subsequently disconnect it without causing damage) are contained in a PDF file in the Sony ICD-PX312 digital voice recorder\'s memory, which can only be read by connecting the Sony ICD-PX312 digital voice recorder to a computer.

Also, the version of the English instruction manual which you can download from the Sony website is written in a mixture of English and Chinese or Japanese characters - so you can\'t get out of the bind that way!

The printed Quick Start Guide that comes with the recorder doesn\'t tell you how to disconnect the USB cable without damage.

Windows XP tells you that you can \"safely remove the hardware\" even when the amber operation light on the recorder is still flashing - which of course worries you when you see it - which of course is too late - even though you haven\'t yet had a chance to read the English instruction manual in English.

When you do get to read the manual, it tells you not to break the connection while the amber operation light is still flashing.
